Mole stalking

Chemical warfare: Use Oftanol insecticide - no more moles or food for moles. As a side benefit, there won't be any mole crickets either. Plus, you yard will look great.

I've been using the exhaust pipe/hose attachment for the little bastards at my place. Seems to be working, but it's not much fun. I'd definitely like to see their dead mangled bodies as proof of my success.

We just got a new cat, and he looks like he might develop some skills. I'm gonna see if I can train or entice him to specialize in the moles and voles that we've got an army of.

My buddy uses the exhaust method. He's got an old push mower that smokes like a beetch. Uses a scrap piece of vacuum cleaner hose to plumb the gas into the hole. Runs it for an hour or so and done deal. You are correct, not entertaining. The smoky exhaust is probably not needed as the CO should do the trick. My bud likes to see the smoke coming out every hole.

A non-lethal, no time-consuming method of an old man here consist to drop a piece of carbide in the tunnel and activate it with water…The mole will pack up quickly and never return again…and the neighbours will wonder why their yard is suddenly invaded while yours remain free… Advice : for good neighbouring relationship, never divulgate the method you used !!

I tried Traps, Bombs . They would shove the old Bombs out of the hole .

This Cat showed up one day . She got room and board in the Barn , had two boys one day .
Had them all fixed ..
End of story ...

The calcium carbide method is common in the NW USA. Or anywhere near a mining district where acetylene carbide lamps and moles were common.
Grab a big blue tin of good ol' Union Carbide lamp fuel and have at it.

To complete the process you fire off the acetylene/air mixture you filled the tunnel complex with.

There is a wine that pairs nicely with the delicate, lean red meat of this elusive species. Might I suggest an early 80's vintage bottle of Ripple?

May I also suggest Thunderbird and Mogan-David (MadDog) 20-20.
Are these still made?
These were the go-to before payday beverages for submarine sailors.
Probably banned for today's sailors.
