mohawk 6mm

i have seen a few of these mohawk 6mm and 243 pop up at show around here lately. i am ITCHING to get the remington mohawk 6mm. it is an older rifle. anybody have any thoughts or experience on this?

I had one in 308 and have two XP, XP and 600 the same. I like the actions. In fact in the old day these action were the thing to have for BR. Get one. I would like to find another one myself.

Hi

I have Rem Mohawk in .222 with wooden Stutzen stock and not the nylon one. I believe this limited run was either produced by Remington for the European market or possibly actions shipped to Germany for fitting. They are of classic Germanic contours with a horn tip right under the crown. They can be found in 308 and 243 also.

Whatever model you find, assuming you don't just want the action, I would definitely consider replacing the plastic all-in-one trigger guard and floorplate with the steel drop-in replacement that Brownell's offer. I can't remember if its manufactured by Sunny Hills but its top quality and sadly not cheap.

I've always been quite fond of the much criticized quirky "dog leg" soldered bolt and given the short barrel and less than perfect bedding that is achievable, the forend screws into the barrel)it shoots rather well and handles like a shotgun. Well almost.

Hope you find one as I'm hanging on to mine!

Cheers

Ps: If I recall correctly you can only use a bridge type scope mount as there is only a single taped hole at the rear of the action. This probably all too much info?
