Modify Lee Universal decapping pin for Lapua brass

I just chucked mine in my drill press, and used a finer flat file. Took a little bit off each time till I got to .054 to leave a little room

On my Hornady Match FL bushing sizer,i just used a small mill file[smooth] and an electric drill, filed it down to.054 ,took about 15 miutes, kept checking diameter, till it fit new lapua cases, did same to lee 6mm collet sizer

Do yourself a favor, and check out/Buy a Mighty Armory Die.
Wayne has Universal Decappers, and he is expanding his caliber specific FL Dies, with integral decappers .
His machining and materials are Top Notch, and you won't find better cust svc !
The small pins are Indestructible!
You can Feel the difference.

Have you called Lee customer support to see if they'll send you a 1.5 mm de-capping pin? I find the customer support service for die makers to be some of the best there is. I recently busted a 1.5 mm pin in my RCBS die and called customer support to order replacement parts as well as spares. I got a whole bag full of parts FREE of charge several days later and this was not an isolated incident. Some wonderful folks out there just waiting to help you out.

I haven’t seen where Lee makes a pin for the small flash holes, but maybe I haven’t searched enough.

Yes I’ve seen those, very nice. I hope to add them sometime. Thanks.

I have also had great service from Lee getting several parts for the hand primer very quickly after providing photo evidence of the failure. I did ask about small pin decappers and the reply was no they didn't make them nor would they do any of the modifications.

I also asked about VLD seating stems and again the answer was NO what they do make is very good but it is clear they are not in the competition grade market. I use there presses but use a Redding competition bullet seater, even the VLD stems need grinding sometimes for a specific bullet. I have ground the Lee stems with good results also.

Thanks David for that info. That will save me a phone call!

I got one of the Mighty Armory decapping dies with the large and small pin. It is sweet!
You guys are about to talk me into trying the Mighty Armory deccappers. They have a little bling to them too, now which color would look best sitting in the old RockChucker. Red,Green, or Black?
Just took a look at the Lee pin I’ve been using, looks like a rat has been chewing on the end of it. And I thought I had been pretty easy on it.

I went with the red one. It really stands out nicely.
