Mike that’s overkill. I bought a set off Amazon. No fancy case like the one you pictured but came with a drill bit and tap with same thread pitch as Hornady tool. I think I paid $25

I sandwiched it between two pieces of wood. I drill hole between both pieces of wood in same diameter or just hair smaller of the case.
I then just put it in vise and squeezed slowly until it didn’t spin

That tool is discontinued. I looked for it earlier this year.

I was just curious what solutions others had come up with. I didn't get along with the block of wood deal but looking back, I could go about it differently next time.

I've been using Wilson trimmer case holders as long as I have one that will fit a case good enough to keep it from spinning.

Jason, this little gadget from Pat is about the slickest deal I’ve come across to find the exact touch point without pulling a barrel or stripping a bolt or modifying a case.

Be careful with the Hornady tool and their cases. I have found 2 of their cases that wouldn't fully enter the chamber of my rifles, thus giving a false Base To Ogive reading.

That works for me in a lathe. Granted, it's really not possible to dial that in to 4 decimal places like chambering a barrel but....

We're cutting threads on a case that doesn't fit the chamber like a glove to begin with.

It's a comparator to give a reference point. Nothing more.

Have lost track of how many I've made for people. Of course, there's a more accurate way to find seating depth than involves no tools at all.
