Modified Case Help

Just wanted to see if anyone can help me out with a modified case? (aka Hornady version)

I know there were a few guys threading custom fired cases to use with the tool, anyone still doing this for a small fee?

spot69221: It's a 5/16" x 36 thread. Any gunsmith would be able to drill the case head & tap the thread.

I have my gunsmith make one for when I have a custom chamber cut, or for under $10 it's my understanding that Hornady will also do the work.

Or, for the cost of a tap, they could be self made.

Welcome to the forum, I make my own all the time, if you have a Wilson case holder you can chuck it in a Lathe and drill and tap it, or clamp Wilson case holder in a vice and drill your hole as straight as possible and tap, you will have to go to a nut & bolt place or a machine tooling outlet as your local hardware store won't have a 5/16X36tpi tap in stock, or as Frank said take it to any gun smith or machine shop and tell them the thread pitch and or take them the tool, best of luck.

Bryan will do em for 6$ a pop, shipped. Great guy to deal with & great customer service. I have had him do several for me. I did research getting a tap, I priced one out and it was 32$ & then add 6$ shipping. My thought was I did not need to mod that many cases, be a while before I got my return on that...

I haven't been able to find a 6XC modified case anywhere. BFG sounds like a good deal.

I did contact Bryan but he has had trouble getting his shop set up from a move, thought there might be an alternative.

I am in need of a 6x45 mod case to keep track of the throat/loading/etc...

I might try to do one of the cases my self as I did catch a couple forums talking about the tap and thread on your own. Not to hard of a job I would guess but thought since I was in the mood I would just send him a handful.

Like I said it isn't hard and once you do one you will build them for all your rifles.
