Not sure what drive you have but the Hitachi programming was pretty straight forward using MKSJ's (hobby machinist forum) documentation, software was free from Hitachi.

thanks for that- I have the same drive as you. Ill look into this info. im just not the sharpest cookie on the block. Ive got a master electricians license- wiring the controls would be easy for me. Programming it- i need to go to school or forget about it.

I think it's mentioned in the VFD programming section (page 12) that Hitachi software might not work on Windows 10 but it does. I used it without any issues.
