Model 70 Trigger

I have a Model 70 that I had blue printed and re-chambered to a 7mm RSAUM with a Kraiger Barrel. It still has a stock trigger and I cannot get below 3 1/2 lbs with it. I would like to replace it with something where I can get down to 1-1 1/2 lb. Anyone got any suggestions and know where I can get what you suggest?

Thanks for your help,

Gil

Rifle Basix makes a pretty good and reasonably priced trigger that will easily meet your stated needs. It's also pretty easy to modify a factory winchester m70 trigger to get well below that too. It does take a little more expertise to do this vs. changing it altogether.

That is a good idea GunsandGunsmithing. I did not think of that. I will check out both. Do you think Brownells would have that trigger?

Yes, I think they carry them, but here it is for a decent price.

I've got a timney $100 . The one your looking at is IMO no diff than the factory . The factory can meet your expectations with proper adj.

First, which model 70 trigger is in question, the original design or the MOA Model? The two are entirely different and require different consideration.

Jard makes a replacement trigger for 2008 and newer model 70's they are available from 12 ounces to 36 ounces. I have installed them before and had no problem with them.
For the older model 70's I prefer the rifle basix over a modified factory trigger, they come with a lighter spring and can be installed and back in service faster than messing with the factory trigger and cutting the spring off.
I have installed some Jewell Triggers. If you want a benchrest trigger in your WINCHESTER there's no better way to go.
If you want to go 2 stage, Chad Dixon (Long Rifles Inc.) makes an adapter to use the good Anshuitz trigger in a model 70, I'm wanting to try this one out some day but I don't have the want bad enough to pay the price for the trigger and adapter when all I want it for is a good hunting rifle.

Thanks JayCutright. That is good information and I will check them out for info but I ordered the Rifle Basix but had to return it because mine uses a MOA trigger. I am just getting my feet wet in working on my own rifle but it is confusing when they say a trigger will fit a pre and post 64 Model 70 when it doesn't. I ordered a Timney. This is not going to be a competition rifle but a hunting and target rifle. I want to learn what I can with this one and build a competition rifle next year.
