Model 70, Jewell 2 stage trigger

While doing a deep cleaning on my belly rifle, I addressed the trigger. I've had some Jewell's in model 70's before, but I have not seen seen this model before. I searched the internet high and low for information on this trigger and didn't find a thing. Look closely at this trigger, notice the set screw accessible on the high, rear surface of the trigger lever you put your finger on. The adjuster screw has a spring beneath it, retained by a thin metal piece that comes in contact with a bushing, providing a second stage. This adjustment is not accessible with the action in the stock.

The sear lever has a rocking tip that I've never seen before either.

Is this a rare trigger or what?

It is rare now seeing as they only made them for a short time to my knowledge. I almost bought 2 model 70's to get the jewel triggers but decided not to parts them out. I don't think the safety's can be used with these triggers either so benchrest it is I suppose.

What jbm said, plus one on rare triggers! I bought an OM 70 last year because it had a Kenyon trigger in it.

They will loose their "two stagieness" in time.. that is why they stopped making them.. Jewel's forte is single stage triggers.. nice effort, but it really didn't work all that well for them

I dont know when Jewell discontinued the 2 stage. I have been
selling Jewells for over 10Yrs, and they were gone when I started.
I still get an occasional request for one. LDS
