Model 70 Bedding Tips

I have a late 60's Model 70 .264 Win Mag that I am getting ready to bed. Anyone with any tips, tricks, or pitfalls to watch for when bedding this type of action that would be willing to pass them on would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Darin

Just make sure you have enough room to get the bedding in and make sure you have enough release agent on everything you don`t want glued together. Shoe polish makes a good release agent if you don`t have any.

Give the recoil lug close attention. Make sure that it is smaller at the bottom than at the top. I don't like to recall how I know this.

To get a good surface on the side areas which are straight, put some compound the action before you put the action in the stock.

Check out Ernie the gunsmith's page for pillar bedding and then skim bedding or full bedding techniques. He sells some of the tools that make pillar installation a bit more foolproof along with pillars specifically for the Model 70.
