Model 12 savage polishing

Have a model 12 PTA savage in stainless was wanting to get in shined up and polished to a chrome look. Called a couple places here in indiana to polish it since it's not a custome they are not interested any ideas on where to get it polished.

That can be a DIY project for you to do, all it takes is a little time and a few different grades of good sandpaper. Polish it at a angle with one grade, then go the other way with the next grade, and so on till it suits you... Other wise your looking at around $100.00 to do it...

Sharpshooter Supply polished off everything but the serial number on my target action when they worked on it. Looked really nice. All the usual caveats apply when dealing with SSS but the action came back real nice. I'd just get on the waiting list for their Evolution trigger (3 lever trigger like a Jewell, includes their time and true service) and add action polishing (maybe also a fluted bolt) to the job. Then just shoot the gun until they call you up to send your action in.

if you have a drill press you can do it. 1000 grit paper and 1500 grit paper will leave the chrome look. get a dowel or threaded rod and some washers mount it up careful to get everything mostly centered and spin at fairly low speeds . an hour or two and you are shiny

Or you could do this to your grinder and get some jewelers rouge and a face shield to go with it.
