Somewhere would I send my savage model 12 in stainless off to to have it polished to a high shine. And will it lose any accuracy

Your barrel will not loose any accuracy having it polished.

A chrome plating shop can polish S.S. Do you have a place close to your home . You would not need ship your gun off some place.

Probably won't come back round, lol. Need to spin to polish to do it right, IMO...

Unless you intend to use it as an emergency signalling device, why would you polish it.

Good god, man, get some 1500 wet paper and follow it with rubbing compound.

Can even do it without a lathe.

Get yourself a barrel spinner and progressively work up in grit to 1000-1200 and then move to the buffer. Takes a small learning curve to get onto a spinner, but once you do, makes quick work at finishing a barrel to your liking. Belt sander wise, I use a Kalamazoo 1x42" and works great.
