Model 1 Sales 6 PPC AR ... Anybody have any experience

Just found out that Model 1 sales has 6ppc AR15 complete uppers. Anybody ever shot one of these?Any good in the accuracy and reliability? Seems like a very cost efficent alternative to one of Witley 6mmARs. Would just be a bit slower.

I don't have any actual experience with one. I don't think I would say the ppc would be anything like the 6mmar though.

Might be some magazine feed problems with the 35 degree shoulder angle. Also, it's really going to hurt when you watch that expensive 6ppc brass being ejected all over the place, to be lost in the grass and damaged when it hits the concrete. Not cheap at about .90 each.

The subject is well covered in "The Competitive AR15, the mouse that roared", by Glen D. Zediker, beginning on page 215.

@Hoier. The reason I say it would be like a short 6mmAR is because the 6mmAR is a necked downs 6.5 grendel, and the 6.5 grendel is a 6ppc expanded to 6.5 with the shoulder blown forward a few thousandths of an inch.

@fdshuster, I didnt think about that, this would most likely just be a range gun so I wasnt too concerned about loosing brass, but if I ever did take it in the field for varmints, I would definitely put a brass catcher on it.

There is a guy here locally that builds ar uppers in 6br and I was thinking real hard about getting one. The reason I didn't was how hard ars are on brass(well mine is) and I didn't want my $.85 a piece brass getting banged up. Plus I would cry if I lost any.

6PPC gives up about 3 gr of water capacity to a 6AR. The longer body of the 6AR does help with feeding (it's a lot more than "a few thousandths" longer). We re-chambered a few 6PPC's to 6AR's over the years but stopped doing it because going into a prior chambering previously done with an unknown dimensioned reamer presented some issues that were more a pain than it was worth.

RCW, I was unsure of the exact difference in dimension between your cartridge and the PPC. Sounds like I might be better off saving my pennies and picking up a 6mmAR from you guys. It would definitely be the most expensive upper I'd own, but seems well worth it. On a side note, what is the barrel life like on the standard 6mmAR loaded with 105s to good velocity?

I'm a VERY HAPPY owner of one of these Model 1 Sales 6 PPC uppers. I use Norma USA brass, H322 powder and 70grn Nosler BT bullets running just under 3000fps, it is easy on the brass. I use 6.5 Grendel magazines without cycling issues. At 100 yds the bullets touch each other, it is my favorite coyote rifle, you can see the "SHOW" as I call it, there isn't much recoil so you can see the coyote fall in it's tracks when it is hit, i.e. "The Show". I mounted a straight 6x Leopold FX-II scope with the LR Duplex (part# 63085) sighted in at 100yds, the first Dot below the crosshairs is dead-on at 200yds and the 2nd dot is dead-on at 300yds. Range the target point aim and shoot.... I JUST LOVE THIS SET-UP......
The only down side it is a little heavy.

Today I shot a coyote at 342 yds with the Model 1 Sales 6PPC upper on a RRA lower. I just love the 6PPC in and AR15.

Wow, didnt see your replies until just now. I went ahead and bought a 6mmAR barrel. Oh well, maybe next project. Glad to hear that yours is working well. And, nice shot today!
