Most shooters use 6 and 6.5 mms. There is one shooter who does use a 6 dasher and does quite well with it. Use rifle scopes, high bc bullets, range elevation is 4830 feet.

Competitors use large handguns. Target match at 500, 750, 1000 yards firer from benches. IHMSA silhouette pistols or similar are the light gun class. Most hunting contenders will reach 500. beyond that, things get interesting. Most target cartridges that will reach 600 to 1000 yards in a rifle, are used in this shoot. 90 percent of rifle velocity is attainable in a Specialty Pistol. Muzzle brakes are allowed there.

There is no formal equipment list published. I will say from being at the shoot, everyone in the business is represented . MOA, TC, Savage Remington, HS, Freedom Arms actions. Every kind of optic and barrel has been shot there. Custom, stock, really exotic stuff had all been competitive. Just bring a good ,accurate pistol, give it a try. Contact MOA Corporation, enjoy a unique match with great people in the Scenic Black Hills. We are seeing good support from the shooting Industry for this years match.

Alex Wheeler, I am not too good at hyperlinks, so I will explain how to set to the rules. Use the link at the top of this thread. When that page loads, click on 'Annual Handgun Match'. Another page will load and 'Match Rules and Information' is highlighted in red near the Bottom of the page. Dan
3 five shot groups for Qualifiers, group only matters. Advancers from each relay to finals. One 5 shot group in finals. 3 pistol classes each at 500, 750, 1000 yards.

Specialty Pistol is a term that I learned from some shooter in Wyoming. He had the biggest, most elaborate handgun I had ever seen. I always used "handgun" myself.

This match is a lot of fun,with some tremendous guys shooting and helpng each other.Probably the best comeraderie I've ever seen at a match.
Highly recommend getting to northeast Wyoming if you can.I heard that a guy even shot a 17ppc one year out to 1000yards in 28 mph gusts,he hit the sighters and targets too.

It would be nice if Topstrap and a few of the Rayner boys might make the trip. We know they are certainly up to it as I have watched the u tube vids over and over again. I would just like to meet them in person.
