moa help

i am wondering hom much usable elevation i would have with a 25moa canted base and a viper pst with 65 moa zeroed at 100yards

It's impossible to say for sure, but if everything is reasonably straight on your setup, you should have somewhere around 50-60 MOA to work with. Should be enough to get you out to any reasonable shooting distance - easy 1k-plus with almost any rifle caliber(not .22 LR or .50 Beowulf). There are lots of factors that can affect this, though.

Good luck,
Erik

50 MOA will get you a loooooooong way with a 6.5-.284. You should be good, barring any unforeseen weirdness.

The only way to know for sure is to put it on your rifle, zero it and then count clicks from your zero.

I put a 20 MOA base on a Savage F-class rifle in 6.5X284, and couldn't zero it even at 300 yards, I was about 3 MOA too high at 300. For Mid-range, I had to aim at the X-ring hole scoring disk hole below the target and adjust for the x-ring. I put the same base on the same model rifle in 6mmBR, and have enough adjustment to start at 100 yards and go beyond 600.

Every rifle is different to some extent. Give it a try.

i will fo that once i have my barrel. i have everything pretty much but my barrel, so i can not realy get a for sure number yet and i know just talking about it on here is very relative. i also had a buddy who had the same zero problem on his 338edge. he had to zero i think for 300 or 400 yards

I have several guns set up with 40 MOA bases and 200 yard zeros, but they all have 5.5-22 Nightforces on top, which have 100 MOA total movement.

There is absolutely no way to predict in advance how much is going to be needed. I'd throw a WAG out there and say you'll be fine with a 25 MOA base.
