Hey Midwest Shooters,
Here is the match bulletin for the MN MR F-Class and Prone NRA Regional. There will be a team match and BBQ Saturday, and the individual matches will be Sunday. Range capacity is 80 shooters unless the pit expansion is finished before the match so register early! Camping is available on site.
See you there,
Scott

Hey Scott,
I don't know yet if I'll be able to make it that weekend or not, due to a nephew's graduation I'm expected to go to. Hopefully I can work around it. Curious about the wording in the program though; it mentions only Match Rifle or Service Rifle categories for prone shooters, is that right? The 5-round magazine requirement in the NRA's Match Rifle definition would disqualify most prone shooters' rifles. Normally, I'd just assume it's a mis-print and show up with a Palma Rifle, but since it's a Regional, I'd hate to shoot for 2 days only to find out I wasn't legal or eligible to win. Can you clarify?

Thanks,
Erik

Well, I guess if it turns out I'm able to go, I will find out if I'm disqualified or not when I get there.

Erik,
I wrote match rifle in the awards description for lack of a better term to use for a match or "palma style" rifle. The match title is mid-range prone and F-class match. After the debacle at Gopher regarding the label "palma", I am trying to be very accomodating and generic. If you have a better description for a rifle with open sights that is not a service rifle, I would happily use it.

Bring what you have and shoot.

Scott

That's what I figured, but wanted to be sure. I don't remember what happened at Gopher, but I think the term you'd want to use per NRA definitions is "Any Rifle". As described in section 3.2 of the rule book, it's pretty literally "any" rifle, as long as it's safe and not larger than .35 caliber. The "Match Rifle" definition (3.3) requires it be able to hold 5 rounds which eliminates most prone-only guns, while Palma (3.3.1)has to be a.223 or .308. The Any Rifle class would include Match, Palma and Service rifles, but not vice versa.

Thanks,
Erik

Bumpt to the top with some exciting news. We installed another three carriers in the pits last night which increases the range capacity to 25 carriers. Room for another 12 shooters! Registrations are coming in so please don't delay. Send me the form from the bottom of the bulletin to reserve a spot!

Hey Shooters,
I have received many questions regarding the team match on Saturday. Don't worry if you don't have a team, there will be plenty of "scratch" teams made up of willing shooters. The team match is meant to be a fun learning experience. Pleasee don't stay away Saturday just because you don't have a team. If nothing else, look at it as great practice for Sunday.

If there is room Sunday, I'll be up with Tyson and Jager to shoot! Heading to valley fair tomorrow for work, then I have to do some reloading. Nothing like waiting til the last minute...

Thanks

Second time at ERSC and as always… WHAT A GREAT BUNCH OF FOLKS ! Mildly hot 83º, clear skies and it's been noted that the mirage worked hard to fool some shooters, it did this noob in, more than once. :(

Scott will hopefully post more on this well run gathering of the near (and not so near) F class aficionados.

Thank you, guys and gals.
Richard

Great match, Scott! Thanks to you and the staff for keepng things running smooth. Congrats to the winners and, to the 3 new national record holders!

Thanks for the kind words Erik and Richard. Wow, what a great match. I am just doing the national record paperwork now and will post a seperate topic about the great scores. I haven't received the excel files of the match scores yet, but I will post them soon.
