Mk3 308 with 1in12 twist

Well lets say I get a new mk3 in 308 and start loading for it . Has anyone noticed that it likes heavy grain bullets or lighter ones ? It has a 1in12 twist . Most of my 308 that I have like to be around the 2500-2600fps . I will also be adding a aftermarket boss on it if it shoots decent. 1in12 is good for up to a 168 grain bullet . I only want to shoot 150 or 165g for white tail

That'e great! You won't have any trouble finding 150 gr. bullets for your new rifle. If it was mine, I would get some IMR 4064 and 150 gr. bullets and start having some fun. But i'm sure there are plenty of powders that will be good. Maybe even 125gr. hunting bullets for white tail. Glad you found what you wanted.

I hope varget will work . Its really temp stable as we can hunt hogs year round here and our temps swing a lot here .
Just not sure if varget has the correct burn rate for a semiauto?

I would think it will be fine. The Browning is not an AR or M1 style rifle and is more forgiving about what powder you use as far as harming the rifle. At least my 30-06 is. But you have to try different powders and see what works best. I was happy that IMR 4350 worked with Sierra 190gr. bullets in mine.
