Misting for predators?

Do any of you guys use misting when you are hunting for yotes at night?

What scents do you use and where do you buy the scents?

I would think that if they could smell the scent mist they could also smell you if the wind was right.
A good call is all thats really needed, and full coverage camo....

When I used to bow hunt, white tails), I used scent to mask the human odor, like fox urine or skunk.
I never bothered with the scents that were ment to lure in the prey like doe in heat.

My friend ties his wifes smalll yappie dog up out about 20 yards - better if she is in heat - great bait - a few quick pees and mist is all about - just about lost her one night when we did not see the Coyote coming in until it was very close to dog -all we could do was scare it away by yelling at it.

There was a very interesting article about misting in one of the predator hunting magazines several months ago. I have looked for it but can't find it. They were mixing 3 or 4 scents and told the name of the company where they purchased the scents.

I attended a presentation two months ago. The orator was using a mix of several urines. All kinds of animals urines. The prevailing theory is that the multitude of scents overload their scent processors. Evidently coyotes do not multi task very well. The coyotes would stay around for several seconds even when coming in from downwind. His comment was "do not do the mixing in the wife's kitchen". Hmmmm.... Hell Centro Wolfer

Interesting!
I've been trying to bag coyotes in southwestern Vermont now for several years with no success. The next trip will be toward the end of February and alot of thought has gone into scents, hanging bait, and misting. All of the other tactics have been tried and I've yet to bag one. Anybody out there have any experience in Vermont with coyotes they would like to share?
The areas I hunt are Tinmouth, Danby, Mt. Tabor, Arlington, Weston, Rupert, etc.

Chino69,
Are you using an electronic call? Hunting at night? Do other animals come to the calls, foxes, coons.

Last year was my first year of doing this, I shot 3 yotes in I guess about 25 attempts... Not very good. However I shot a lot of foxes so it kept my interest up.

I hunt in Middle Georgia, I met a guy in the county over from me that would take the blood and guts from a fresh killed deer put it in a burlap gag then wrap it in a heavy duty plastic bad and freeze it. He said that it was a very effective bait. My wife would pitch a fit if I tried to freeze guts in our refrigerator.

This year I haven't started hunting yet, I know there are yotes in my area. Deer season will be over soon and I am going to hit them pretty hard.

I learn something every time I set up at night. It seems that can make every mistake that can be made at least twice.
