Miroku 1885 wanted

Have seen Browning 1885 on GB in .22 Hornet. I just got a1974 Ruger no. 3 in Hornet. The Browning is more attractive than Winchester and both made in same place.

I've had good luck on that site. I've had a Browning (223) and Winchester (17HMR) 1885, both were very nice and shot well. I still have the 17HMR, it's my serious stopping rifle.
17HMR~?? The bore on a 17 is a pita to clean, Too small. I'd like to find a low-Wall in .223 with a curved butt plate and 1/2 oct:1/2 round barrel.
How accurate is the .17~? I have a fully restored '85 in .32-20, but that one is not a shooter. Far too beautiful. Looks like a Turnbull job. I don't even know why I bought it, but it was just love at first sight~!!!

I have a sweet original 1885, that has a varmint barrel in 219 Donaldson wasp. The action was gone thru and brought up to new specs, case hardened gorgeous old school case colors, barrel blue and stocked with claro walnut, the stock has an adjustable for height cheek piece. It has a old school Weaver Steel tube 16X in custom mounts. It comes with forming dies, RCBS reloading dies and ammo or brass. It loves 3031 behind a 50gr V max. Shot very little. I am downsizing my single shot collection. Also may have Winchester Miroku 32/40 limited edition for sale. Pm me for pics and a price if you are serious about it.

The 17HMR shoots well with the proper ammo. It has a 12X fixed Leupold scope, w/fine hair and dot. I've shot gophers with it and just love the 'no jump', so I can see the 'hit'. I use the 'Bore Smith' patches, jags and brushes to clean all my rifles. When shooting gophers, I will run a patch through the barrel once in awhile, 17's seem to get dirty quickly. I also shoot a 17 Hornady Hornet, same thing, then give a good cleaning at the end if the day. I had a Rem 700 in 223, when I had the Browning, the 700 shot a little better so I kept it, sold the Browning and bought a Cooper 204 Ruger. Good luck finding that 1885.

Thanks for your reply. I'd really like the very traditional (crescent but an d 1/2 oct barrel). Just love that look~! My most recent toy is an original 1885 lo-wall built in .25RF. I had it converted to CF, the barrel relined to .38 Spl, and refinished the wood. I'm still looking for the best powder/bullet combo because I'm confident that it will be a great shooter to 150 yards when I find that combination (that's if I don't go broke first buying all the combinations that have been recommended so far~!) LOL~!!
