Minox Scopes?

Hey anybody here had any experience with Minox scopes? If so what is your honest opinion about the glass, reticle turret adjustment's?

I just sold my Minox ZA-5 4-20 scope yesterday on the site. Not because i did not like it but because I have too many mid power scopes and need another NF BR scope. The glass is made by Schott Glassworks of Germany and scopes are assembled here in the USA. I hunted the entire season with the Minox last fall and scope is very clear and bright. I had no issues with adjustments either and side focus is very positive. A great scope for the money. I got mine from Bear Basin and I believe SWFA may sell them also. I would go with the 3-15 if I were to buy another Minox.

Hey 40X guy thank you for the feed back. I'm interested to know why you would go with the 3-15 over the 4-20? I'm going to use this on my switch barrel Remy. it has all of the Rum. calibers so that is why I was leaning towards the 4-20. the only reason I can think of is weight factor but I'm interested in hearing back from you.

If I may chime in here please. Many people over scope their rifles. In a hunting situation, field of view may well be more important than magnification. And remember that the more mag, the more apparent is the wobble. Here in the Eastern US where we do a lot of woods deer hunting, 1.5x4 power scopes really work well. You will be surprised what you can see with a good scope set at 3x and unless you're on a really solid rest, the image jump will make the extra top end power worthless. Just my $.02.

Greg is right on about people over scoping their hunting rigs and i have been guilty of it as well. I bought the 4-20 Minox as it has 5X magnification and i would turn it all the way up when punching paper and i then left it on 4X power for the entire hunting season here in Pa. A 3-15 would fill my needs better. If you are into the RUM family of cartridges go with the 4-20 especially if you live out west. Most of our deer kills here in Pa. are under 100 yards.

Minox is a really good value for the price and really not a lot of press on it. Super clear scopes, good adjustments. Everyone has their opinions and probably all are correct for their situations but I could easily hunt timber at 4X & I really like having 20x at the high end. All of my scopes usually sit at 10x or higher even when hunting. Something that I got used to & like even for close stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I do live out in the West and I hunt where shots can be from 100-700 yards. That is why I was thinking 4-20 especially when I'm up in Montana where you can be watching a ridge or draw 4-600yards. away and with my eye's not being like they were when I was younger the extra helps if you practice at using the higher power which I do! I think I'll go with the 4-20.

Thank you again.
