We used to be shotgun, pistol, ML only. While I never used a rifle at that time, I often wondered how difficult it was to enforce those rules because our coyote season overlaps our firearms season and you can use ANY weapon to legally take a coyote. If the game warden asks, and you say you're hunting coyotes, there isn't much they can do unless you happen to have a dead dear laying in front of you. I guess you could consider that bait though....
Full transparency, I HAVE had seasons where I took what I wanted (deer) during archery season and spent firearms season calling and shooting coyotes with a rifle. Fun times
