Minnesota Midrange/F-Class State Championship

what does it say about me that reading through this thread makes me feel more like I will fit in at the shoot?

We shot last night and put up some incredible scores. Jon Clauson (Nosualc) with his 6mmBRX laid down a 200-19X at 600 yards for the first match with the new rifle for a club range record. If only the match was registered instead of approved! Shot #15 was a 10 and when Jon got done crappie flopping on his mat about dropping a 10 instead of a X, I told him if he ran the remaining shots as X's, I would buy him a big bottle of Crown. The incentive paid off, he ran the rest as X's. Amazing shooting. I had just finished shooting a 199-13X F-TR style and was drawn over by the crowd gathered near Jon. Mike Micelli shot a 198-11X and my wife Lisa (LusciousXspot) shot a 198-8X. Mike said that we are ready for the Nordic barbarians from the NW to try and invade.

Awesome shooting by Jon! Congrats to Nosualc!! And to the rest of the shooters mentioned for a stellar performance!!

Rod..

ps. Sorry Scott... :-[

pss. Emn83, sounds like you'll fit in well.. ;)

+++ Congrats to Jon. I was paired with him and it was a joy to watch. Jon scored my 199-12x and I was feeling pretty good until I scored his 200-19x. What a joy to watch. Steady and methodical with a few pauses for some wind. He has set quite a high standard, and his hot barrel followed up with a 200-11x if I recall. That rig of his has yet to drop a point, WOW!! I also plotted his sheet and must add that most of those X's weren't on the outer part of the ring but rather almost dead center! Eric in DL

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I wrote up a separate post about this in the 6mmBR sub-forum...

Looking forward to seeing all you guys at the end of the month!

Ok I can't wait to meet Rod!!! And the fiber bar thing makes still has me chuckling.
We are surely going to have a blast at the match in 2 weeks.

I've been adding to the "pink" ensemble I drag out to the line. All the usual black, tans, greens out there gets to be a little much. I recommend sunglasses 8) before venturing a glance at my shooting mat. It's obnoxiously bright (Scott bought it for me--and now it matches his toe nails--wait for the story........)

Till the match,

Is there ever a good time for Lutefisk?

Born and raised in Duluth, I have to say NO!

yeah, have to agree, and I'm a transplant from an Iron Range family....very soon to be returning....and I can't stand the stuff

Scott, A couple questions, Will the course of fire be the same or similar to the Harris match (6 sighters 20 for record 3 relays)?, Pit setup ? Delmar and I (for sure) possibly 1 more OLD FART (Beaver) will be comming up.

Saturday is the team match. 4 shooters per team, two shooters at a time will shoot 2 sighters and 15 shots for record. Then the other half of the team shoots their 17 shots. This will be done 3 times over the course of the day. Total of 51 shots per shooter.

Sunday is the individual match. Each shooter will shoot 2 sighters and 20 shots for record four times over the course of the day. Total of 88 shots per shooter.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update on the match. We repaired a few targets and made about 40 new 600 yard F-class targets on Tuesday night. All the HP targets have fresh centers as well. Registration is at about 70 shooters right now. This is going to be a great match.

As the President of the club, as well as being a conservative, I have just one request: It seems like a shame to destroy the X and 10 ring of these brand new targets just because you can. Concientious shooters often will shoot a few 9's to help save the center of the target backer so the target backer can be recentered and used for another string. Destroying 24 square feet of poly cardboard by shooting all 22 shots into a 3" center seems wasteful. Pass it on, if you will. Just a suggestion.....

I have no doubt that I will greatly aid you in this endeavor

Scott & F-Class Peeps

I plan to try my best to completely ruin a 3" area of the target. Fingers crossed it's inside the ten ring. :P

Match registration is up to 72 and the forecast for Saturday is a high of 83* and Sunday is 85*. Slight chance of rain but we can't let that dampen the fun.

Scott and the cook went to Sam's today to get the BBQ goodies. I hear they needed an extra cart for the jumbo boxes of fiber bars. :o

There are a limited number of Elk River Sportsman's Club F-Class hats for sale this weekend. Cost for each hat is $10. Get'm while we got'm ;D

Until Saturday......

Lisa

You ran a great match this weekend... It was awesome to see such a great turn out. The food Saturday was great, as was the team match.

Thanks again
