Minimum amount to resize the case BODY?

Sorry for the confusion and late response... I guess I misspoke when I said "smooth extraction". In my mind I meant the entire process of removing the case from the action. But the issue is actually heavy bolt lift and the secondary heavy click at the top, not the pulling of the case out of the chamber.

I'm in the process of having the top of a RCBS FL die cut off and a little of the base removed to create what was described to me as a "ring die". I'm hoping if I can get the base of the cases sized down a couple more thousands that it will fix it. Unfortunately it will add an extra step to my sizing routine. But it is what it is.

thanks

I hope that cut down die works for you, but I have my doubts on you collapsing that web area a couple thou. I do think your problem was designing the reamer around such a small base case like the REM, then using Norma brass that basically was the same size base as the chamber. No room to expand and spring back smaller than the chamber, I think it is moving the chamber out (Barrel) and the barrel springs back and pinches the brass base area the brass has no place to spring back cause the base is at its original size again but slightly bigger( tenths) causing the snug fit. Chamber must be at least .001" bigger than the brass that goes into it. I don't think you met that criteria by using the larger Norma base. Options you have are to get some of that smaller brass( Rem) or, May be there is a way you could enlarge the chamber diameter some how/...hone ??? Has to be straight and uniform, borrow a larger reamer?? I may be wrong, but thats how I see it.

I made the ring die myself tonight and was able to size the base down .002

We'll see how the bolt feels this Saturday.

Thanks
