Mini-14 at 400 yards?

Most Mini 14s won't group worth squat but I wouldn't want to be down range when the range goes HOT!!

Gave up on the Mini-14 idea. Ordered a Tippmann M4-22 Elite Tactical instead. And saved myself almost a quarter mile hike per target stand walk too, 200 yard limit on RKD clinics, and 100 at my local range.

Much better choice, now just add a 17HMR like marlin or savage SS

.17 is a maybe one of these years but would be a debate between HMR and Hornet. I'm nuts for Hornet caliber. For now my .22 Hornet will hold that fort.

When you do try a 17 HMR, you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner.....

I once had a Mini-14, got rid of it for the same reason everyone else does - stupid inaccurate. BUT, if someone wanted a close-quarters gun and loaded it with frangible bullets, there would be a good rig there. You just have to hit your target before he can run 50 yards.
