min neck size for 243 win

Hello,
I am going to order a new reamer
and want to know what would be the best neck size.
I don't want to neckturn but want a minimum neck.
Brass will be Lapua and Win.
This reamer will also be used for chambering a rifle in 6mm X
,243 win - 0.132) for this chambering mostly Win 22-250 brass will be used.
What would be the best compromise in the neck dimension?
Thanks David

For all the time and expense to get a custom reamer and have a barrel smithed up I'd be thinking about a more inherantly accurate cartridge.

If it's just a guess for you, .271 - .272 reamer neck dia. normally works with Lapua brass without turning but it might be best to get your brass in hand as mentioned above. The Win. brass neck thickness will be far thinner than Lapua and I would not even start to guess at that one.

I too have a 243AI that is quite accurate. The reamer I used was spec’d with a 0.272 neck. Measuring the actual neck cut in the barrel, it’s 0.2726, as best I can measure it. I turned the necks on Lapua 243WIN brass, purchased around 2011, a bit beyond where they fully clean up, and wound up with clearance of about 0.0018. Without turning these necks, this lot of Lapua brass would have had little if any clearance.

I’ve been contemplating turning them again, for a clearance of 0.003. I’ve read varying opinions on what‘s best over the past decade. Is today’s recommended clearance a bit more than say a decade ago? Is that dependent on whether the reloaded anneals each time?

Lol. What the heck was i talking about ???
I ended up with lothar walther 243 28" barrel . Shoots good. Also have a new unshot savage lrp 6br.
Factory barrel was a savage 242 22" ,shot 3/4". Im sure it had atleast .008 neck clearance in the chamber. The lw was a few thou tighter but i dont recall the number

Well, there is varmint hunting accuracy and there is paper match accuracy. Two very different definitions often cross bred with mixed results also resulting often in technically accurate information being given out that is overkill for the application and not what would best serve the application.
