Mill Working Height

My Grizzly Mill/Drill is too low. I need to weld up a higher stand for it.

The table/vise does not move up and down. Only the cutting head moves.

How high should I have the table the vise is bolted to, to have a comfortable working height. Or, can a couple of you guys give me some dimensions of your working heights for your MILL set-ups? Thank you.

Stomach high is where i seem to be most comfortable on a regular mill maybe a tad higher

Wouldn't that depend on the height of the head?

That's what I'm trying to get at. I guess I didn't know you could change the height of the head on a "real" mill. I thought only the table traveled up and down(as in a Bridgeport). Sorry if my question was confusing.

I'm using it 99% for inletting stocks, the other little bit for horsing around building fixtures and such.

I measured a Bridgeport. The spindle is 50 inches from the floor.

Thank you for taking the time to do that. It seems I need to build about a 12" base for the unit.
