Mill table refurbishment

Hello, not sure if this is the place for this but I've got a INDEX 745 milling machine I'm getting ready to remove the table. Past owners used grease on ways rather then vactra 2. Got to clean that out. Thinking about having the table surface ground while its apart. Any thought on this? Any suggestions as to who in K.c. metro to use for this? I want it right or I'd rather just put it back as is.

Neither of my Bridgeports have much boo boos on the tables. Fill the bad spots and do a light hand file with a 18" long flat bastard file. A surface grind will not remove much material.

I saw a Bridgeport where the owner lost his mind and used a fly cutter to skim the table. I asked why, and he said the head was out of square. Go figure.

No need to remove the table over grease. Get a grease joint rejuvenator, put kerosene in it, pump it thru with the table at one end, run it the other way and wipe out the ways. Do this until its cleaned out then do your leadscrew. Then go thru your setup on the nuts and all and then way oil in the rejuvenator. Its going to be a mess for a while but shouldnt be an issue (ive had to do this to one machine)

Or you could turn a piece big enough to run it on for dialing in the tale stock.
You would want to check it at different extentions
