mil dot videos

Hey everybody!!
I've been contemplating getting into long range shooting to add to my interest in firearms therefore, I started a personal study of the mil dot reticle. I purchased the mil dot cd-rom from shooter ready but it still doesn't make sense. I was in the process of purchasing the "Ultimate Sniper Manual" but was unsure of how much it would help and didn't want to spend the money. Being that I want to master the mil dot before I spend an arm and a leg on a rifle I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a really good instructional video.

TRY GETTING A LEUPOLD USERS MANUAL FOR A MILDOT SCOPE--PRETTY EASY TO UNDERSTAND

A milradian is just an angular unit of measure, nothing more. There are several types of mil based reticles with many shooters now preferring a reticle that has hash marks at the 1/2 mil location and either dots or major hash marks at the 1 Mil locations. 1 milradian is 3.6 inches at 100 yds, 7.2 inches at 200, and so forth. The reticle is used to estimate distance to your target but you must know the size of the target in either inches or yards. I can explain further if you need but not sure what you are not understanding. Send me a PM if you need further help. Good luck.

No doubt about it, reticle applications for rangefinding, and downrange zeroing does take a little study to understand the concepts, but there are a lot of sites around that'll help u. Just Google it, and study. Don't give up on it though, it really is a lot of fun to play with, and the most basic formula used for mil-ranging can easily be adapted to any multi-stadia reticle, oftentimes more accurate than the milliradian.
