Midway State of the Business

Received this a couple days ago. Later! Frank

Dear Valued Customer,
In the spring of ‘77, I left the Air Force and moved to Columbia, MO to pursue my dream of running a gun shop. You see, I’d always loved the outdoors; especially shooting and hunting. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve shooting and hunting with my dad and brothers. Then, as an adult, some of my greatest joys have come while shooting and hunting with my wife, my kids, my friends and now my grand kids. I love this industry, I love our way of life and I love serving Customers.
Now, our way of life is being challenged like never before and our Customers are responding with a flood of orders. In the 35 years I’ve been in business, I’ve never seen anything like this.
We’re monitoring the political environment, our industry’s capabilities and our business on a daily basis and making policy and process changes to better serve Customers. But please understand, while we’re still able to get most orders out the same day they’re placed, you may experience longer than normal wait times on the phone or when you chat with us on the web. Also, it’s taking us a few extra days to respond to emails. Finally, we’re out of a bunch of products I know you want which breaks my heart. And when we do get them in, they rarely spend the night in the building because they’re ordered almost immediately. We’re tirelessly working to get products in the door and out to Customers as fast as we can. But, until supply catches up with demand, we’re having to limit quantities and back orders on certain products.
One thing we haven’t done is change our prices because of this surge in demand. Prices do change from time to time as they always have, but we’d never change prices because of something like this. Our pricing strategy is one of the reasons we’ve put quantity limits on certain products. We’ve all seen certain products selling two or three times higher than normal, and MidwayUSA doesn’t want to enable that type of activity. Also, we want to serve as many Customers as possible when we receive high-demand products. If it’s any consolation, none of our Employees can order products with quantity limits (myself included). We’ve all agreed to put Customers first. And that’s the way it’ll always be at MidwayUSA.
As always, everything we do is intended to be in the best interest of our Customers and we’re eternally grateful for your patience and loyalty.
Thanks for Your Business!

I was going through some old reloading manuals a few days ago and found some early reciepts from Ely Arms. This was the retail store they had prior to Midway arms. One reciept is dated November 8, 1977. I bought a pound of Unique for $6.65, and a can of 760 powder for $5.95. I also bought a thousand primers for $7.00.

I was one of their group of original customers at their retail store. I was going to college at MU and they were just 1 exit West of town, and on the way to our farm.

I am still using a vibratory, brass case polisher that was part of their personal equipment and they sold it to me used. It's out in the workshop running as I type this.

I have been buying from Midway for 20 years and will continue to order from them. First class organization!

Without a doubt Larry and his family have built a first class business.I think it is good of him to send out a personal letter explaining the situation.Larry is one of a kind.

Yeah, they are great. I have been ordering from them for over 10 years and spent thousands of dollars on their site. They have NEVER messed up an order or failed to deliver it quickly.

It's also probably the only "one stop shop" website I can go to. Really nice to have one website where I can order a forming die for 20 vartarg brass from 223 rem, 6.5X47 Lapua brass, cleaning supplies, a rem 700 bolt jig, a holster for a handgun, AR-15 mags, and a bench gun length cleaning rod all in one order. The variety is amazing.....
When it is in stock of course ;)

Midway is one of the best when it comes to shipping, I can usually order on Friday and get it the following Saturday, well now Monday. I have yet to not get what I order, even get packages that were back ordered I totally forgot about. Midway is my first stop shop.

I've had a couple of personal communications with Larry Potterfield via email. I bought a custom rifle stock from him on ebay, and he took the time to relay some info about the stock and tell me what kind of shooting he enjoys. It was just like one every-day-kind-of-a-guy shooting the beeze with another guy! Another time he personally contacted me to thank me for returning a $100 credit that was mistakenly applied to my account.

I've seen so many guys take pot shots at him (no pun intended). I can only conclude that much of this animosity to him is jealousy based. Some guys probably can't stand to see a successful guy posing on the cover of his Catalog, or having all that fun making Midway workshop videos.....while looking calm as a cubecumber the whole time as he gets rich. LOL

With respect to all others opinions, Larry and Midway USA are proud supporters of our 2nd Amendment, the NRA and most other sporting organizations. I prefer to spend my money where it matters and Larry puts his family's money where it matters.

I will gladly pay a little more for shipping or whatever. Larry makes a difference!
