Midas + lot testing

Ive found two good lots...

26553/ 704451

and

26554/ 602266

I have been able to ask around and figure out the 1st part of the lot number is significant... i.e. the "26"

If you put a "3" in front of Those 2 digits you get the velocity.... 326 m/s which translates to 1073 fps.

Has anyone else found any significance to the rest of the lot number?

Again (FWIW) your groups are far bigger than you measure.
And, argue all you wish but I’ve been a group shooter fo 30 years.
If you get fliers that bad, you, your gun, your ammo has problems ,the sooner you recognize this, the sooner you progress rather than using a bullshit “outlier “ label.
LAPUA comes two flavors (more or less) one that hovers around low-mid 1070’s and one either side of 1080 and velocity has little to do with lot selection. With ELEY it has far mor to do with what machine is hot(8 machines)
All Lapua comes off one machine in small case lots, you MUST try multiple test lots or buy blind, that is the only way to get better Lapua.
They are suppose to bring on a second machine.

Tim, This past February Lapua had some 324 Midas+ this is the first time I have every seen a 324 speed(1962 fps) of course it didn't shoot for me, shot some 325 X-act same thing didn't shoot. and I agree most of what I see is 327-328 (1072-1076 fps)
but it doesn't matter, go by what you see on paper.

With the new test center coming next year, I sure hope they get the second machine going. be a bummer you find something that will do sub 8mm(.295) and there is only 2-3 cases. for those that don't know
Lapus uses 10-shot groups measured outside to outside so a 8mm group is really really good
ctc( - 5.6mm) would measure 2.4mm or 0.094

Thus the big( as I see it ) issue with Lapua, you see nothing past 2-3 cases of anything. The biggest lots go, maybe 4 cases.
You either go the tunnel route or buy 1/2 of it blind cause when it shows, guys are on it like wolves on bunnies.
I shot it all last year in three guns with three lots and was pretty happy but sourcing it is freaking exhausting. Got mine from Clint, but Jeez, it’s gone in 3-4 days after an Email.
Fortunately ELEY really upped their game and the stuff coming in the last year equals the best I’ve ever seen.
When the ‘18 stuff first hit the US right before a big ARA weekend, guys shot something like 9 2500’s.
Pretty hard to surpass that.

Point I am making is both 326 lots shot well... Pretty much shot equally well.

The guy at champions choice told me that velocity matters. So have numerous other industry professionals. So with Lupua you look at the 2 digit prefix and can be pretty sure the New lot will shoot as good as your old lot.

That is what several industry professionals have told me and what I personally have experienced.

I'll keep testing that. But I plan to call champions choice back Monday and order more of the same lot.

They gotten better, but not by that much the lots I got had 7 + 8 cases I heard of one that had 14 so some hope.
I get my stuff thru Clint also. and Yes Eley has really come thru with some great stuff, too bad I don't shoot it.

324 x 3.281 /= 1963.

SMH. Good grief. Use a calculator. Yer wrong.

I really mean this, I hope you find good ammo and learn to use flags and get some fun out shooting matches.
but as I said before you are a newbie in RFBR, I and a lot of others know you go by what you see on the target speed is not important.
in the last 5-6 years I have shot probably 100K plus of rimfire ammo and just since February I gone thru 1-1/2 cases of ammo that is 7500 rds. this is not including the test lots I have gotten.

You take care and have fun

Guy at Champions is clueless.
There are approx. zero benchrest shooters that source from them.....zero.
You actually want to learn about what is important regarding ammo, call Paul Tolvsted at Killoughs or Clint Swiggert.

Carson Lilja told me the same. Others also. Velocity is not the *only* consideration, but it does matter.

If velocity didnt matter, Eley, Lapua , RWS and others wouldn't intentionally manufacture varying velocities.

I buy my Tenex from Killoughs, so I will call him.

Tim, Time to throw in the towel, no matter what you say it won't hold water against all the experts lol!

and I don't know about getting Clint or Paul involved, you might not get any ammo after he calls!

Here is something as a peace offering and I never called you an idiot so please don't say things as such
maybe when you get your flags this might help the learning curve
