Michigan groundhog hunting

And the last one for the evening the son-in-law got with his 9mm pistol at about 10 yards clean shot through the neck I was impressed20170527_195505.jpg

Got family of 5 living under my trash pile out by my rang in the backyard. Saving them for my 6yo grandson. He always wants to go with papa but cant shoot my rifles. These ones are well within the range of his 22 cricket
Sorry about the poor pics trying to hold the binoculars, camera and keep them still and push the button turned out to be more difficult than I anticipate20170529_125113.jpg 20170529_125338.jpg d

A ground hog can be dead and still crawl back to it's hole on instinct. Best example I ever saw was one that my buddy shot one day with a 60 gr Sierra HP from his 243 Win. It was a perfect head shot while the hog was standing up. It evaporated it's head and he still crawled about 3 ft back to his hole. His butt was sticking out of the hole but he still made it there. Then there was the one that the same buddy shot at around 250 yards with the same rifle and bullet. It was laying flat on the ground broad side. At the shot it's tail stuck straight up and quivered a little and then went back down, hog never moved. When we went to retrieve it we could not find a mark on the hog. The bullet had hit the ground right under where it's heart was. The shock of the impact somehow hand to have stopped it's heart or something to kill it. I have seen some weird things happen in the hunting fields.

Got home early from out-of-state working had a chance to go groundhog hunting last night for a couple hours took an old army buddy with me that has never been before and by the grin on his face I think he's hooked
Trusty Rusty strikes again at about 200 yards this Bruiser was actually living under the concrete in the pole Barn he had to go

View attachment 1010541 View attachment 1010542 the second picture was a complete surprise at the end of the evening we went to retrieve our kills and instead of the carcass found this can't believe he crawled off with that much damage he was laying down looking at me crosshairs were dead on his head at the instant the shot broke he stood up I think I got a bad gut shot

Uhhhhh. Coyote??

Nice shooting. Proof that you don't necessarily need a ton of cash to shoot a chuck well.
