Michael Kavanaugh Worlds best stock painter

I have one of his painted stocks. Very proud of it.
My son shoots that rifle now, hopefully he will kick some Aussie ass with it at our Fly Match.

Hope everything works out for him in Florida.

He may be good and one of the best but there are a lot of really good stock painters. A buddy of mine did this one. Special stock for offhand shooting with a longrange handgun (Remington XP-100) at the Masters years ago.

Might be gaudy to some but the artistic perfection is top shelf. It's all airbrushed.

No disrespect to Mr Kavanaugh, I'm sure he's quite good but maybe not the "best".

Finally made contact with Navy Capt Kavanaugh, He will be leaving Florida early in the morning. Some of you remember Kav as the very best stock and custom painter anywhere. Kinda like another Son to me.

Wow, He did a stock for me when he was still doing them for Speedy before he left.
Had no idea he was a captain.......very impressive.

Good to see your post Butch. I lost track of Kav after he and my niece were divorced. He painted two stocks for me. Both are beautiful. I thought he was in the Navy, Capt Kavanaugh that is impressive. Good to see he is doing well and wish him the best of luck. Always liked him.

Mr Strap,
Have you seen Kav's work? I thought not. Your guy is good but Kav could take him to school.

I only kept a couple photos of Kav's work. Airbrush?? I got me one of them, but I'm not a good painter.

Damn, my other photos are on photobucket.
Boyd, how do I retrieve them?

nice rifle man,,,,on PB right click on your pics and then click "save as" and save the pic back to your computer then upload wherever you want

Kav, Tom Meredith, and Deano, are top quality custom painters. Deano's is quite possibly the best of these 3.

Try and paint like the big boys with harbor freight stuff. That why good stuff costs.

So glad I am no longer wrenching. Seems everything I do is a large tool investment but I hated buying tools to work on cars. Got a full set in a snap-on box if anyones interested :). Theres even an IWata and DeVilbis (sp) in there. I know what it takes to do a fine paint job, skill and patience. That I dont have. I did quite a few early on, got real good at wet sanding if you know what I mean. Nice thing with clear is, you can wet sand and buff it to perfection and no one will know about the runs and orange peel. Real skill is not needing to wet sand and buff.

Well Alex, after almost 50 years, 49 actually, I have 2 Snap On Roll around boxes. We used to call them taco wagons. I was fool enough to spend the money to fill them. Other brands would have made do in a lot of cases. I haven't had to buy any in a while as I don't get car greasy anymore. I just get cutting oil, spray mist, and chips now.
