Message from Hornady

That's just the way it is these days. The current political climate has driven a lot of people that never owned a firearm before to buy one and ammunition with it. Of course the people that are enthusiastic about hording are becoming good at it. Hopefully it will abate after Trump is sworn in again. If the worse happens and Biden is allowed the steal then perhaps people will come together put it to good use.

While I’m not totally immune to black helicopter theories, the current ammo and component “shortage” is only mildly more dire than runs on the market in years past. Anyone recall trying to buy primers during the Clinton administration? The stuff is being produced and distributed but not in ample quantities to fulfill a huge growth in consumer buying. Yeah, let’s throw in Covid 19 and all the raw material, manufacturing and logistical curve balls.

The demand has gone up and with the addition of another 7,000,000 new shooters it's not likely to slow down anytime soon. Those that have worked in a factory (production) setting will tell you that it's just not as easy as flipping a switch or turning a dial and go from say 1.000,000 to 10,000,000 units a day/week. Most machines are designed to run at a set speed for optimum performance. Push'em and you get inferior product and downtime which gets you less product and parts breakage, which can be days or weeks waiting for a new or rebuilt part. I say be patient.....It's agonizing I know. For those that reload we usually have a little stockpile, maybe not as much as we'd like at times but non-the less a small stockpile. Now those that only buy factory at the store it's a little more difficult as it costs a lot more to get a stockpile so to speak. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS.

Probably whatever they can procure... that said they re (and all ammo makers) far ahead of us poor ole RE loaders in the supply chain distribution !

Don't forget Remington is also on a shutdown. Just a whole bunch of factors creating a perfect storm. As a rule I shoot alone or with one other friend. Post election my range is much busier. Not deer hunters sighting in but just guys punching paper. IMO, the desire to shoot goes hand in hand with not being able to. If life ever returns to a recognizable form of normal, will see how many dedicated shooters there are. Of those how many will prepare for the future. I enjoy taking lunch money from other shooters. Oops the restaurants are closed. Guess I could bring bratwurst, condiments, beer or soda. That could really get me in trouble. I'm already potentially in trouble, my neighbor kid is moving to Washington DC to go to work for the ATF. Life just keeps getting better and better. Cigarettes, guns, and a still, I think I covered all the bases for the kid. His mom had a day care and I have been the good grampa to these kids for many years. Let me re phrase that "uncle Buck".
