Meopta Love?

I bought an Optika 6 a while back, but still haven't mounted it on a rifle yet (still on backorder).

1- It is HEAVY, no big deal for me though
2- The glass is good, but not great.

While doing some research, I found this on Rokslide..... it did fail just shy of 3000 rounds of real world use and abuse.

I bought that exact same scope in February. I have only taken it to the range a few times, but am happy with it for my usage - punching paper and hitting steel.

It will also be my scope for hunting deer from tower blinds in Texas. I knew about the weight before I bought it so I don't consider it a con. I don't hunt in the mountains. If I did, I would want something significantly lighter.

Pros: It is built like a tank and everything is smooth and works. Good glass.

Cons:

Reticle instructions were written in Czech, translated to German by a toddler, then to Chinese for one of their instruction writers to translate it to English. The reticle instructions assume you know all the answers and are basically worthless.

If I ever get in shape enough to go hunting in the mountains, I would look at one of their lighter options.

Just unboxed a meopta optika5 4-20x50 with duplex reticle about an hour ago and took it out on the deck to look across 400 yds 0f cow pastures and fields. I am real happy! 1" tube and sfp with capped adjustments so its a hunting scope and at 23.5 ounces it is lighter than their 30mm tube scopes. the center of the duplex is real thin but the thicker sections of the duplex are very close to the center. It will make a great paper reticle for load workups etc . am just amazed at this glass for the 450 I paid. only have a couple scopes that look this good and they are zeiss. hoping to go look through it this evening during low light. waiting on some tps rings for it, be here in a couple days. It will be going on a ruger american predator in 6.5cm for deer hunting fields. the entire range of 4-20 is usable. this would also be a great varmint scope.

Meopta is a great glass for the money, however they are focused on hunters and LE. They offer ZERO scopes for competition. optika 6 4,5-27 does not offer enough magnification for F-class or benchrest which is what most people are shooting.

I have 2 R1 4×16 ×44 and need another but I never see them posted for sale . Keep look out for me

I was going for a Tract scope but I wasn't happy with the reticles they offer. So, I went with an Optika6 4.5x27x50 for my upcoming 243AI. We shall see what folks are talking about.

I wish they'd bring back the McWhorter reticle. I should have bought a couple more when the meopro's were being blown out.

I think the Czechs are pretty no nonsense type folks. Sturdy scopes and good ammo. They have been in the middle of some world class wars and killing for hundreds of years.

All you blokes with the 4 to 27 by 50 have you had any trouble going above 18 power with the site picture going milky.
my son had one of these and a friend of mine had one and it did the same thing I have the 3 to 18 by 56 can't fault it it's superb it's been on 4 rifles from 7 mm Magnum down to 22 Rimfire I'm very happy with mine but the next size up I was not amused and neither was my son or my friend .

I got the Optika 6 I had ordered. Very nice scope for the money I paid. However, won't be able to mount it for another 2-3 months. Gunsmith still doing his magic. No big deal on the wait. But, I am completely lost on the resetting of the vertical back to zero. There is one video I found on YouTube. However the guy kind of speeds right through the video at the end where he shows how to rest the zero. Any other videos out there? Of course, the instructions that came with the scope are useless. Help.

Called Sport Optics last night and they sent me some info that didn't really help. After I posted my problem here I checked my emails and I had another email from Sport Optics from late last night. They sent some way better instructions. Problem solved. Now if I can get my old printer to work I'll be OK. LOL.

If you need more help I have an article with some info, zero stop info and pics are about half way through the article. It’s in the link below. Your right, the directions are useless. It’s the only thing I’ve found I didn’t like about my Optika6s. Its resolved just took more effort than it should have.

Now with the Optika6 1.6-6x24 on the 460 S&W, yes it is a hunting scope, and yes with the BDC-3 Illuminated reticle it is the most practical scope I've found for that purpose! In my opinion "PERFECT"!

The same reticle on my Optika5 4-20, and owning a Leupold and Weaver 24x both with dot reticles for 50 yard rimfire competition, I can say this scope is just as capable with its small center dot! I can also say it is equal if not a little better when it comes to optical quality. But again YES again, as a hunting reticle and scope way brighter clearer and better suited for hunting with that illuminated dot, than either of those other mentioned scopes!!

So a few months ago I put a new Walnut sporter stock on a heavily customized 580 Remington 22 rimfire. A very special build I had done with the help of Ron Pence using one of his hand cut rifled stainless BR barrels turned to 26" sporter
Years ago Ron Pence barreled a stainless 10/22 (AMT version) for me. Also have a couple of his .17 blanks from back then. I was under the impression he was retired from that. Is he making barrels now?
