Memory Trip Friday

I've got some H4831 in a can marked "WWII Surplus Powder" with a price tag of $2.75. We'll never see that again either.

Or how about a more recent box of ammo from just prior to the ChiCom debacle.....remember prices like this?

Yeah, Obiden is in charge now.
Rick could of had Two old Pickle Jars ( 4-5 gal.) Full of WW2 4895 in a Garage Sale two years ago.
Past on it been in the garage for Years No heat.

Using H4895 as a comparison basis at $58.50 in 1978 calculates it to $246 in todays money. Looking at Powder Valley prices it looks like around $256 for the same item in todays money, so it really hasn't gone up.
Availability is another issue though and if someone is really needing powder they may well have to pay above suggested retail.

I’ll bet the availability of it was better back In 78’. Sad that income hasn’t kept pace with inflation.

I bought a set of Central Sights (among other equipment) from O.K. Weber when I got into the High Power game. Great guy with great service.

In 1978 I was a private E1 making $419 a month.

Until the pandemic, felt or told myself prices were mirroring inflation. Price went up, along with my paycheck. Have looked at Gunbroker, just to see where prices were going. Checked the bare shelves at my local dealers and am glad I bought years ago. Worked the trap and skeet desk at my local club on a Sunday a few weeks ago, beautiful day, but only 2 shooters and 4 rounds shot. Back in the day, the parking lot would be full. At least it didn't take me long to load the houses.
