Memorial Day Pics ??

We're not doing our usual Memorial Day camp out this year, and I was just going through pictures of past ones to enjoy the memories. Found this one of a "Boy and His Machine Gun".
This good friend of ours brought this incredible weapon to our annual camp out every year for several, and enough ammo to give everyone a taste of getting behind a full auto. jd

I just got back home from moving my step daughter from Weed CA up to the still basically free side of the line. There is a Veterans Memorial Park along Highway 97 about ten miles north of Weed that I decided to stop at and "feel" some Memorial Day. I've been to this place before, and each time find myself moved by these steel sculptures.

The atmosphere, location, and scenery is stark, lonely, and funereal. I wish these pics could convey the actual feel of the place. I hope I got at least a little of it. jd

And one more; one of the best I think.

There is also "A Wall" at this park, and there were ceremonies happening after I left. I'd encourage anyone traveling this stretch of road to swing in and spend a few thoughtful minutes -- or hours. jd

i am not very original, and I hope you don't mind me adding this link, but a friend just sent this YT link regarding a WW2 burial at sea. Considering that my son is about that age, it really hit me.

Just got back from a Memorial Day Service at the South Florida National Cemetery with my MOM and my bother and while there found my dad's marker there. I am thankful of the brave so I can live in the land of the free.
