Melonite QPQ AR Barrel

Thanks Bamban. Who do you use for Meloniting?

I use Houston Unlimited out of Chappell Hill, TX. I have been using them for about 10 years. Their primary business is meloniting drilling parts for the oil business.

If you send a batch to them or to anyone else, follow Butch Lambert suggestion on how to remove the residual salt bath solution.

Just tonight I was cleaning a barrel that Bamban put in with one of his first batches of barrels at Houston Unlimited. I think there were 5-6 barrels in that batch, and it brought the cost down. One thing to know about Meloniting - break in your barrel or diamond lap it before you send it to them, because break-in will take "forever" or diamond lapping will have to be done several complete cycles, which is a royal pain. But the barrel is super easy to clean, and it shoots extremely well, even though this is a 22" Winchester factory Featherweight barrel that I bought online from Larry Racine as a new takeoff. It has also shot an 8-shot 0.55" group in the original Featherweight stock (bedded). It is strange to look in a clean bore and see black surface, but it is gorgeous; and it seems to bother people that a Featherweight can shoot an 8-shot string which is a pretty, round circle without "stringing".
