Medium Weight Long Range Benchrest Gun?

Terry

Gold $$ Contributor
In my Heavy Gun resurch I kept finding guys who love to shoot them, but hate to haul them.
Has anyone done a "Medium Gun" say 20 to 40 pounds, with most of the features of a Heavy Gun, but the weight?

Is there a good stock for this with the rear made for a mechanical rest?

Thanks!

Terry

Usually they do the stock in wood just like the big ones, Then they chamber in a 6 Dasher and put on a brake. The same aluminum rails front and rear of the big heavy ones. Maybe 1.250 straight barrel. My buddy started making stocks for light gun 2 inches in rear and 6 inches up front. Matt

Terry, I'm gonna shoot one this year. Alex should be done with it soon. 25+- lb dasher, same type stock as my light gun but 5" instead of 4". Stay tuned lol.

Bag or mechanical rear rest for your Medium Gun?

I have a Dasher set up also like Tom's but with a 3 inch wide adjustable rear aluminum rudder instead of the 3/4 wide one. It rides in a Edgewood 3 inch wide front bag mounted in a heavy metal rest that I built. Weighs about 25 # but like it a lot better than a rear bag. Still using 4 inch wide stock, but very stable.
