Measuring Jam, Sierra vs Berger. Surprised me!

How can it steer you wrong. Your tuning a specific bullet to a specific barrel. Accurate Shooting, your not looking for a place to seat mass produced ammunition. Lack of common sense in folks gives me a headache. Your looking for a repeatable starting point. The square mark is not to give you that point. The idea of a square mark is the bullet just might like to shoot well with a lot of land engagement.
Respectfully, I think you're missing what I was trying to convey.

-A 'square mark' guideline can't be used for all barrels, bullet profiles, throat angles and neck tensions.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Al, when I speak of a square mark it has nothing to do with finding touch. I think some confuse finding touch as a basic reference point with starting with a square mark and and then backing the bullet by increments into the barrel to find the seating depth the barrel likes for that particular bullet. Personally I have no real need or use for touch as I don't chase throat erosion. I hate that "j" term. I totally agree with what you said as far as square mark not being used as a reference point. It us just a starting point that is easy to find and see for finding seating depth.. I have found quite a few barrels that the square mark was as good as it got. It has also made me skilled in clearing a pulled bullet and powder every where, lol. Just get away from me with canned air.
Respectfully, Jeff

I shot some 90g bergers the other day just for the fun of it. I was surprised they shot so good.
So yesterday I got some 95g Vlds.
I loaded 10 up 40 thousands longer than jam. Measured them after clambering them and every one Measured within 3 thousands of each other. This was them same level of consistency I had gotten with the 107s.
I think It has something to do with the bullets having a consistent ojive starting point.
