Measuring case wall thickness in body

Is the NECO the only one that will do this?

Looking to measure the body thickness and I have the Sinclair Concentricity Gage but wanting to be able to measure the "banana" shape.

Jeckyl,

I actually made my own with nothing more than a piece of heavy welding rod bent 90 degrees, rounded tip) and a dial indicator.

The indicator sits over the welding rod to measure the thickness of the brass down at the case head.

You will see that brass distribution is consistent thru out the case. What you are looking for is a case that has low runout just above the case head. That will translate into low neck thickness runout.

Of course with the lower runouts, the "Bannana" shape is minimized.

PS: Merrill Martin really did some great work on this back in 1990 in PS magazine. Check out the articles if you can find them.

Allright, I will see if I can muster up something to make the concentricity gauge work this way and use the rollers....maybe bend a heavy gauge wire and mount under the dial.

Only prob I could think if would be the buildup insude the case throwing the reading.
