MEASURING CASE CAPACITY

This has probably already been answered but couldt find using search. Is there anything more to measuring case capacity that weighing the empty brass and then weighing fill with water?

Nope, that's how you do it. Just make sure to do it a couple times and have the water level come right to the top of the neck every time. It's easy, given the surface tension of water, to be a little over or under--up to about .3 grains I've found.

Also, obviously, be sure to have a spent primer in the case before you add water.

And make sure to remove any water drops or moisture on the OUTSIDE of the case. This can affect your measurement also. That's one reason I like to measure a case 2-3 times.

I Stand the case up on a plastic golf tee, pressed in the flash hole). Zero scale & fill case with h20 while on the scale.

Check when cases are fully formed.

I fill the cases BEFORE putting them on the scale. I don't want any chance of spilling water into the pan. If you don't have an eyedropper you can use a straw and glass of water, or a small measuring cup that has a pouring spout.

Be sure to get a tee which supposedly offers the greatest increase in driving distance. You'll feel better actually getting real use from it. Trust me..It won't help your golf game!!

Add a couple of drops of dishwashing soap to your water,I use an old pill bottle for the water) this will cut surface tension and make things a bit easier. Also, your local drugstore will have inexpensive syringes in the ear care dept., easier than a dropper.

Mikecr, tell me how you got a picture in a picture? One of the Photo Shop programs?

Ray,

I don't know what mike used, but it is real easy to do using the free program IRFANVIEW. Just have two pictures open. Use the cursor to draw a rectangular section in picture one and right click "copy". Then go to your second picture, draw another rectangular section, where you want the inset to be), and hit "paste". The only tricky part is if you change the aspect ratio of the "paste" rectangle, the inset will look slightly different from the original.

FWIW, 95% of the photos on this site are cropped, re-sized and color-enhanced with IRFANVIEW though I own PhotoShop and three other programs. IRFANVIEW is just faster and easier to use.
