MDT LSS-XL GEN2 CHASSIS SYSTEM

So i have always used a classic stock on all of my rifles and i am looking to try out my first chassis system. This one is all aluminum which i like the idea of a lot better than the plastic ones. Has anyone used one of these and would recommend them or are there better options?

I use the XLR Evolution. Also created from a billet of 6061 T6 aluminum. I love it. I shoot FTR so got it with the 14 inch front rest, extreme butt stock which works great with a rear bag. I added some stock tape which helped reduce resistance in the ears and a picatinny rail which I use with either my Joypod or my Harris Bipod (using an adapter).

I had originally looked at the MDT but after researching more, I decided that XLR had other advantages that the MDT didn't. One of the primary advantages was their Multi-point radial cut inlet, which eliminates the need for traditional V-Block or Glass Bedding.

I have one of these on a Ruger Predator and I really like it for the price. I already had an extra RPR stock for it though. I use it for practice and coyote hunting. No problems with it and the people at MDT have been great if I have any questions.

I helped a friend put his Savage 270 WSM in a MDT chassis today. It was well made, action bolted up perfectly. very good fit. Only problem we ran into was the provided scope base. It's a 20 MOA base and that's all they offer. A Zeiss Conquest scope was mounted and we ran out of elevation adjustment. In lieu of Zee rings a 0.040 shim was placed between the rail and the action. Everything worked great after that.

Have had experience with ashbury, krg, and xlr. Ashbury is well made but a bit of a pain to work with as they really don’t support it to much with things like Arca rails etc if you ever want to change the setup (there is very limited selection in online stores as well). xlr is probably just as well made and if you like the buttstock probably one of the best options (I just like tool less adjustability). Krg is a good balance of ergonomics and lighter weight if that matters, the polymer is really only a cover over an aluminum backbone. Ideally I like the xlr inlet and finish a bit more but like the available options and buttstock better on the krg.

I would try to get behind the stock before you buy it. It is all about fit and feel. I prefer chassis to stocks, but I started shooting late in life and prefer pistol grips. I have run Accuracy International, XLR, MPA, KRG and others. I am running just the MPA now. My second choice would be XLR. But again, try it first, you may love it, but you may hate it.

I'm also going for my first chassis stock rifle. I have my eye on the new ORYX chassis but, as of yet they don't make it in 700 LA.

This is the exact same I give people on fishing rods. I am stuck in Memphis right now and none of this stuff is around that I can find. When I was in California the high end cool stuff was everywhere and the matches were like a wonderland. Heading to Georgia soon but I will be at moms house in San Diego so maybe I can find one to check out.
