McMillan

I just got to open my nice new McMillan mbr stock. Looks good, they even inletted it for the wrong action at no extra charge. Yippie, Irvin is my man.

I've been looking for one if its beyond fixing , I want to put a Badger 2013 in one.

Curious if this was your first stop or if your called McMillan?

Is your last name imprinted in the barrel channel?

Looks like this guy has my luck. I always receive a problem shipment on friday night or saturday when the vendor isn't open. On monday morning phone lines are busy so it is Monday afternoon or Tuesday before I can get ahold of them. --Jerry

I recently went through similar challenges with them as well. After a 2nd false start, I sent then my new action (Stiller P1000) to use to configure my stock. Result - a perfectly inletted Nesika Bay varmint stock that has since been used in a 6BR build.

It's been my experience that they are as equally committed to getting their stocks right as we are to have them right. It may take a little more time but it will be worth it.

They will make it right.

Good luck with your stock.

Gives you LOTS of time to cool off before getting them on the phone and ripping into them.:rolleyes:
I ran into the same issue with a stock maker. Decided to do the "snail mail" thing to tell them about it, rather have the police show up at my house for making death threats over the phone.
I got the "correct" stock in about two weeks.:D They CAN make a stock in a shorter period of time than stated, if needed.;)

Good advice.

He posted at 2:20 AM and hasn't checked back in. Either works second shift or looked at the stock after a Saturday nite at the beer joint. May be the correct inlet after all :D:D

Every company of ever kind makes mistakes. What sets them apart is how they deal with it. For my money, Mcmillan stocks have been the highest quality stocks and the best customer service of the bunch. They will sort it out.

Yep, that's about par for the course for me too, although I have to say that every McMillan stock I have received all but glass bedded itself.
My luck is so bad, if it was raining "kitty cat" I would catch a big "black rooster".....change to slang for proper translation!!!
A perfect politically neutered statement if I ever saw one - well done.

I would call them Monday, they will take care of the problem. They have been in business to long to shaft people.

First thing I did was call and leave a message.
This is the first stock I've ordered from mcm. And I think the problem is the salesman I placed the order with, he has no business taking orders if he doesn't know what he's selling. Was out today. Will check voicemail and call tomorrow. You explain in plain English. And yet a Bat with integral rail and from integral model 700 style front lug is not farmiliar to them. The whole order process was like who cares, it's just a stock, weight who cares, lop y bother with custom. Msg about shipping, written down and ignored. Inletting wrong. now I know so I'll have to ask around more before I order so I can know my options n force them to do their job. Custom stocks right?

Sorry to hear, mistakes happen.
One thing I do when ordering a custom McMillan is download and print out the PDF file order form from their website:

http://www.mcmillanusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/mcmillanorderform.pdf

That can be scanned/emailed, faxed, or simply used as a reference when calling in an order.

If there is ever a question on inletting...port length, lug spec, tang, etc...I make sure I have that info available. Heck, a kind woman from McMillan even offered to call Defiance Machine directly to make sure a custom spec. action was written up correctly...

Beyond that, you could always send your action in to McMillan to take all the guesswork out of inletting. I've done that with a new style of detachable bottom metal, and the inlet came back, perfect.

And yes, I have always received an email confirmation to "sign off" on, before build would commence.

I know it sux waiting for a stock, then having to send it back. Just saying, give McMillan a chance to make it right, and I bet you'll be taken care of...

First world problems, anyhoo...right? :)

My one and only experience with McMillan went very well. I had an un-inletted Chevy Challenge stock I bought for a song from a smith. I wanted it inletted for a 722 with an ADL trigger plate, no bottom metal, a HArt HV barrel. I called, gave them the measurements, I may have completed the "form" but I know I talked with a really nice girl there, was offered an opportunity to donate to a charity for which MCM would knock off $100 on the job, did same right away for great cause, and besides a little longer wait than expected, the stock came and was so perfect I did not need to bed it (though I did). They even polished up the rather beat up black stock. Communication with them was great. They even called me to tell me that they had made a mistake and inletted initially for a blind box, but then corrected that when it was noted I wanted a simple single shot. I could hardly tell they made a mistake and they fixed it, catching the mistake before shipping. i was totally pleased, considering that stock was not bought directly from them...it was an old product and my request was a "one-off".
Give them time and talk with the nice girl who takes the orders.

How about a good story from their competitors? I tried to order a stock from HS precision, and was told they did not even offer that stock anymore. The salesman asked me to wait a minute and when he came back on the phone, he said they still had the mold even though they didn't sell that stock anymore. If I didn't mind waiting a couple extra weeks, he could have it to me at no extra charge, even got a custom LP. Don't give up on a good company yet, frustrating I know but they'll get it right
