Last year I decided to try a McMillan fiberglass stock for the first time. I chose the Prone model as it was available in left hand. I proceeded to have my best year of F/TR competition yet including multiple top 5 finishes as an individual nationally as well as team gold medals at the US Fullbore Nationals and Canadian F-Class Nationals. I could tell that the stock was turning in more consistently high scores than any other I had tried.
Many of my teammates were using the new X-IT model and were excited about how it was performing. Well, I just received one of the first left handed X-it stocks and as far as I can tell, it's even better. Here are some of the differences I noticed:
- The cast-off in the Prone model is gone and it tracks better than any I've ever tried.
- Perfect amount of drop to the belly for vertical adjustment.
- The toe is squared off and it fits nice and tight between the rear bag ears with less settling.
- The wrist has a more substantial cross-section and feels stronger.
- The foreend has been optimized both in materials and geometry to make it extremely rigid. Run that bipod as far out as you want without worrying about contacting your barrel during recoil.
