Mcmillan MBR stock question

I have been looking for a tooley Mcmillan MBR stock for a while now with out any luck. Bruno has a few but they are for a BAT action. My question is, if they are only semi inletted how can they be action specific? Can i make a BAT semi inlet work for a rem style action? There should only be one hole drilled in the back of the stock as they come. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks Lee

Issues that you have with stocks inletted for specific actions are:

The slot for the trigger vs the bolt handle. Trigger guard location/inletting. The where these cuts and inlets are will be different between a BAT and REM. Sure, bedding compound will allow any action in any stock but you have to consider that the exterior gelcoat on the stock can't be changed once the cuts are in place.

The rear of the BAT action is very different than a REM. Can you make up the difference in profile with bedding compound, sure but there is no way to match up the bedding compound with the gelcoat.

As me how I know this! Don't a spend a bunch of money just to get a stock in your hands that when it is finished won't look as good as it shoots.

skeetlee,

Shehane keeps Rem tang and square back like Bat in stock most of the time.

Plus one for Joel Russo..
Here's a MBR for a 3 lug BAT he inletted for me..As you can see it is as perfect as it will ever get.. Was no real need to bed it as you can see from the way the glass lays... even the outside needs very little work to have it ready to finish.

Those russo stocks are pretty nice!! The problem i have with the shehane MBR is that they dont have any texture on the grip area. I really like having a little something to hold on to. Also his front ends are a bit different than the tooley MBR. Nice stocks, dont get me wrong, just not exactly want i am wanting. I guess i will have to call Mcmillan and order one. I saw one on here a while back that was GAP camo and i thought that was pretty sweet! I ike the tactical rifles just as much as Benchrest so it would make a nice compromise! I can live with what ever though so if you know of one please pass it along. I cant believe bruno doesnt carry a few more of these than they do. Maybe they just sell out to quick??
