McMillan kestros question

NC/Br Shooter

Silver $$ Contributor
Have you ever seen anyone use a McMillan kestros r stock in short range br matches?
If no, is it because the rules?

I have a Kestros BR stock, so I am familiar with it. This version comes with a couple of delrin add on pieces that screw onto the bottom of the butt stock. One of these is angled so that attaching it would make the stock legal under the short range CF group rules for light and heavy varmint classes. The weight of the stock is such that it would not be a good candidate, for LV use, but it could be for HV and since the great majority of varmint for score is shot with HV weight rifles, it could be used for that. It has the advantage of a longer forearm than other "fiberglass" stocks designed for short range benchrest. To utilize this length requires a rest with an offset bag (which I have) or using a joystick/coaxial type rest. Without one of these one cannot stay behind the scope and make windage adjustments with a conventional windage rest top. Unlike the other Kestros stocks, the BR version is identical to the McMillan Edge stock from the trigger guard to the butt, except for the molded in butt cap. Mine was ordered at a specific LOP with a thin rubber pad. Here is a link to a video showcasing the stock as set up for F TR shooting.

I had the same idea about a year ago when having a 30 be built. I had a kestros for a rem 700 but went with a different action. Here is my thread asking about it for BR.

Edit: if you did go that route and wanted a stock like that anyway, with the butt and forend parallel, Jason avila on here makes some. Also, Dima makes some nice options, but the feel of the kestros. Man I loved that stock.
