McMillan Inletting info

McMillan isn't inletting some stockes any more. You have to buy them flat top.

One of the guys that was doing that work for them has started his own business inletting.
Doug Arbor. (Arizona)

Go through him to order and get a discount.
His prices are less than half of what it takes a GS to route it out.

Right now with him starting out, he doesn't have the info on file needed to do some actions, like a bat b, without the barreled action. That was all McMillan's property.
So now the shipping problem ....

I foolishly sold a 1990's vintage Win Mod. 70 Stealth [mcmillian stock] in 22-250 .. I miss that rifle & custom trigger I installed. mike in ct
Yes Mike, I had a Stealth in .222 I installed a Jewel trigger in to start in the benchrest game. Being not real smart, I sold it. I regret more and more as time goes by.

I have a buddy who works there. He was telling me about this a few weeks ago. If i understood correctly they still have the tooling to inlet them but chose not to for a reason he did not know. He is getting a stock for himself and sending it to that gunsmith to inlet it.

Just sad about McMillan with the change in ownership.

Ownership transferring outside the family preceded Kelly’s passing, indicating it was desirable and the terms mutually satisfactory after due diligence.

My last order for a complex custom stock was placed just yesterday, and the ones I have received under new ownership are outstanding. These are molded colors, full inletting, pillar installation and aluminum railed Kestros stocks with all options. In fact, the same people I dealt with for many years are still there.

If you buy ten of the same model stocks they will inlet them. You can have different fills and different inlets.

The inlet process change didn't affect me as much as the price increase on flat tops.

I was told a few weeks ago when I ordered a few stocks for Vampires that they may stop inletting for them. They have too many problems with the bottom registers breaking the back of the stocks when people take them out wrong.

I just dropped off a sako action I purchased from Walt bergers estate. Doug was the only person confident in doing a stock for me. I hope St Arbor Customs has great success. He's doing a br50 flat top for me. I'm looking forward to the finished product.

Yes. They appear to be inletting for VuDoo Gunworks and for Killough's...you order a McMillian stock from either of them, and McMillian inlets...so I've found.

l recently bought a Phoenix stock for my Cooper Mod 21 MTV from Bell&Carlson. The stock was a virtual ''drop-in''. lt even had aluminum pillars moulded in. lt came painted to my specs. Recoil pad was also included. Total time from order placed to my hands was ''3 WEEKS". WoW!!

I would be very wary of doing business with Saint Arbor Customs. He has had my Anschutz 54.18 repeater barreled action and the McMillan A5 stock I ordered through him for more than a year, but seems either unwilling or incapable of returning them to me, even though I have paid in full and even offered to pay for and send a return label.

At this point, I am considering all of my options in getting my property back, but I am not optimistic.

Edit update: Just got everything back from Doug. Looks awesome, can't wait to shoot it. Not sure what caused the delay in shipping after the work was completed, but at this point, I am very satisfied.
