McMillan F Class Stock ?

I have two McMillan F Class Stocks and am very pleased with both, one houses is a 6BR/BRA/Dasher the other a straight 284. The 284 is now 2 years old and still on its first barrell and shooting great.
It was suggested to me recently by a fellow shooter at my club that I may want to be looking at a new stock in a couple of years for my 284 as the McMillan F Class stock degrades in it’s accuracy potential due to it not being able to handle more than 308 torque/recoil and the fibreglass starts to go of or soften due to heavier recoiling guns with more torque. I’m not disputing his claim as he’s been shooting much longer than me, my question is has anyone else had or heard of this issue before??

Cheers Rushty

Sounds like internet science to me. I think you're fine.

Thats ridiculous, absolutely absurd. A Mcmillan stock is going to handle more recoil and abuse than a laminated wood stock. Mcmillan stocks are always my first choice. Built many 338s and have one ordered for a 375 chey tac. They make 50 bmg stocks for crying out loud. Look at the Kestros, my favorite f-open stock, you should see something new at shot show as well.

I am still shooting one of the original McMillan FC stocks I got in 2004 for the 2005 FCWC. Still the original bed job. Barrels have been in 6.5/284, 284 Shehane and 7/270 WSM. I hate to think how many rounds have been fired on that bed job.

He didn’t say anything about a laminate wood stock. (?)

True, but if he is suggesting a new stock because the Mcmillan breaks down under recoil, that is likely his other option?
