Long action. As Charlie stated, all pre-64 were long action.

That is correct! This one is actually what we called the Straight Taper pattern for National Match Course ("Across the Course") matches. It is perfectly fine for prone shooting! This one has some pretty wood!

Looks a lot like my Remington 40XC stock with added cheek adjustment and adj butt hardware. Remington's version needed all the corners rounded off! Nice chunk of wood.
