Max velocity for the 105 AMax out of a 8 twist barrel

Does know at what velocity you can expect more than just a few of the 105 AMax bullets to go "poof" from an 8 twist barrel?
I think I just had 3 explode and MV should have been under 3165 fps.

I've shot them at 3400+ out of a 28" 236 bore 5r 1/8 Bartlein 6-284 without any blow ups. Even had a few read right at 3500 by accident.

That is sure good to know. I will be receiving a 6-284 barrel today to go on a Savage action and was wanting to shoot them at ~3300 MV.

I'm assuming these were being launched from your 6XC? I know you have put a "few" rounds down the tube on that rig this year! How many rounds does that barrel have on it now? Could the throat be getting rough? Just trying to help is all!

Very good point, Canus. 688 rounds since Feb to be exact. That is a very good possibility, especially since I reamed the throat a little to get the bullet bearing surface away from the neck/shoulder junction.

The 6XC isn't necessarily a barrel burner in comparison to some of the other 6mm cartridges out there. However, them long 6mm bullets have a way of "washing" the throat out of a barrel!

Nomad, I added 28" barrel length to my post. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything about accuracy because this was with a problem child rifle that I never did figure out. It might not be safe to push them that fast either. Good luck with it. Mine is currently being tweaked one last time before I scrap the whole idea and go to a 6.5-284.
