Mausingfield Actions?

I always wanted one but the price is pretty steep. They are pretty innovative although nothing much is that new except the toroidal lugs which are hard to pronounce and that esoteric bolt knob that Butch is fond of. Can't think what Ted might've been drinking when he designed that knob but I suppose it works as intended for fast bolt manipulation.

The price is steep? Compared to who?

Sadly, all I ever hear about those actions is the bolt knob is ugly. It really is detracting from their popularity (in my opinion). Although that is pretty sad.

Bolt knob may not be as pretty to some but it is highly functional. So much that I've glued all of mine in place so they can't loosen up. I presently own 3 ARC actions and if that ever changes it will be 4.

I should add that they like most (not all) people in our industry are EXTREMELY good people to deal with.

I really liked them too.

I honestly can't undertand why they are not held in the same regard as some of these other actions, aside from the bolt knob. Some of the other "custom" actions I have been exposed to are quite clunky and basic compared to the ARC stuff. For the same money.

Never heard of a "slick" Mauser action! Really excited to hear more about these actions. Other than the bolt handle, I don't think the receiver is ugly at all.

I hated the bolt knob until i used it. I actually made a ball and teardrop for mine but still have the lampshade on there.

The mausingfield is $4-600 more than other actions on average. The nucleus is more in line with everybody else- its an arc action but it aint a mausingfield

Do you really think he was drinking at the time. Look where he is located and his 60's appearance.
However I do like Ted, he is definitely a smart man.

He’s building actions in my old stomping grounds, I used to live walking distance from his shop.
I did the concrete work in the building right in front of his.

Last time I saw him he had pretty short hair and talking to him you’ll get absolutely no impression he’s a hippie.

Heres the first 2 options i found on a simple search

ARC offers 6 different style knobs, $30.00 each. When I ordered my 1st Nucleus I had it changed out to a knurled knob. My second I left it has is. I like the smooth one so much I'm considering ordering one to replace the knurled one. I should have left well enough alone.

You guys that think that CRF actions are clunky must not get out much.....

The smoothest cycling actions I have ever seen are CRF. I even had one M-70 Classic I opened up for a 338 Edge that smoothly fed EMPTY cases.

The issue is CRF magazines are more specific to a particular cartridge. You can't just swap barrels to a different cartridge and always have everything work without working on the magazine and follower.

When they are set up right, nothing is more reliable or durable in the field than a CRF.....

All its missing is the diamond pattern and it would be the same. Very functional and not in the way near as much as the baseball bat style everybody likes

Yeah, so far I'm liking the knob. Nice positive spot to put the side of your index finger with a knife hand to raise the bolt.
